Precision Viticulture

Join experience with technology

All producers deeply know their vineyards and they are completely aware that there may be many differences between different zones and basing on experience they have learned to act accordingly, using different strategies with pesticides and field operations.
However, sometimes it's not completely clear why some plants behave differently from others, what pushes them to sprout beforehand or why they produce grapes less rich in sugars.
Today technology can contribute to understand the reasons for such differences.

Precision, enhancing the differences

Precision Viticulture means trying to conveying all terroir features into the wine; as a consequence, each vineyard can give an excellent product but different from the neighbours ones.
Deploying a sensor in different areas of the farm can give important information to bring out the best territory characteristics; small daily changes in temperature and humidity in the vineyard can increase or not the development of diseases or may help to achieve a better and more uniform ripening of the grapes.
With simple chromatic maps of the vineyard it is possible to appreciate instantly these differences.

Reducing treatment, Reducing costs Improve quality

A clear objective of today's wine is a plant management aimed at applying treatments only when phenological and climatic conditions make them absolutely necessary: in this way the direct and indirect costs cut down and the quality increases.
But leaving the practice of scheduled treatment is not only difficult but very risky, unless you have accurate, rapid and concrete information on what's happening in the field: to this aim VineSense give the user real time data, easy to read with graphs, panels and alarms on infection risks.

Where to use the sensors

  • Traditional viticulture
  • Integrated Viticulture
  • Sustainable Viticulture
  • Biological Viticulture

Netsens Proposals for viticulture:

Defence
For those who want to focus its defence VineSense has a set of sensors designed for controlling critical parameters: temperature and humidity, rain and leaf wetness on the top and bottom of the leaf, are the sensors that VineSense provides to give active support and immediate advice on treatment timing.
